Brandon was a high school athlete with an infectious smile. The summer before his senior year in high school, he and some friends climbed in a jeep after morning football practice. A tragic accident caused the jeep to roll while they were still in the high school parking lot. Brandon was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive.
Brandon’s dad recalls that Brandon asked both of his parents about organ donation before he received his driver license. After their discussion, he made the decision to say yes on his license. When approached about organ donation at the hospital his parents supported that decision. They also let their community know that Brandon was an organ donor and they joined forces with Brandon’s friends to encourage others in the community to register as organ donors.

Brandon’s family has had the opportunity to meet both of his kidney recipients and the woman who received one of his corneas. The circumstances surrounding the chance meeting with one of his kidney recipients was a remarkable story that was reported on KSL.

Brandon’s story was also featured on Fox 13 in a three part series right before Thanksgiving. His family has started the Brandon Curtis Forever Strong Foundation. The Foundation was created to award high school athletes college scholarships. His family felt like this was a way they could give back to the community for the outpouring of support they were given.

Brandon’s story has set an example for an entire community of how his family took a terrible tragedy and turned it in to a very positive force for good.
