HOME / Lulu's Story

LuluLondon, nicknamed Lulu, was diagnosed with liver disease when she was only two months old.  Her family immediately considered living donation, knowing the need for organs exceeds the number of organs available for transplant.  Unfortunately, Lulu's mom, dad, uncle and aunt were all ruled out as not a good enough match for what Lulu needed, so the wait began.

Lulu's condition became critical in December and her family knew she would need a new liver very soon.  The call came early on a January morning and Lulu received the liver transplant she needed.  Her mom was amazed at the change in Lulu.  She started crawling days after leaving the hospital and took her first steps not long after that.

Lulu's family had the unique opportunity of meeting her donor's family shortly after the transplant surgery.  This experience has made her mom vow to alway honor the young girl whose liver now allows Lulu to flourish.  She will tell Lulu about her donor and help understand the scar on her belly  represents the sacrifice that enabled her to live.
